Let’s be real — I used to think if I could just eat the right foods, work out hard enough, and fit into a certain size of jeans, I’d finally feel good in my body.
I did all the “right” things. Clean eating.Heavy lifting. Cutting carbs. Skipping sugar. Obsessing over the flatness of my stomach like it was some kind of badge of honor.
But deep down? I still felt anxious.Still felt exhausted.
Still didn’t feel whole.
No matter how healthy I looked on the outside, my insides were screaming for help.
The Wake-Up Call
At just 26, my body started breaking down. Back pain, hip pain, nerve pain — and I chalked it up to being a hairstylist and standing all day. But let’s be honest… I had only been behind the chair for seven years at that point.
What I didn’t realize was that my mental and emotional stress — all the trauma, pressure, and pain I had never processed — was living in my body.
And it was loud.
I was obsessed with losing weight, but I never learned how to nourish my body. I didn’t know what a macronutrient was, let alone why inflammation and cortisol were wrecking my health from the inside out.
I wasn’t educated on movement. I was just playing roulette with whatever fad was trending that month — keto, low-fat, no-sugar, low-carb, repeat.
I thought less food = more results.Turns out, less food + more stress = burnout.
The Part No One Talks About
Here’s what I’ve learned since:
You can eat kale and grilled chicken all day and still feel like trash if your soul is starving.
You can go to the gym every morning and still be inflamed, anxious, and disconnected if your mind is overloaded and your nervous system is shot.
Wellness is not just the absence of disease or the size of your waistline.
Wellness is peace. It’s balance. It’s awareness. It’s healing the emotional, spiritual, and mental parts of you — not just the physical.
We’ve been trained to chase the mirror and ignore the messages coming from within. But you can’t heal your body if you’re constantly ignoring the parts of yourself that are screaming for attention.
So What Changed?
After years of doing what the world said was “normal,” I realized…
Cool was killing me.
Cool was drinking wine every night to take the edge off.Cool was hustle culture and pushing through the pain. Cool was pretending I was fine while quietly falling apart inside.
So I chose weird.
I started meditating. I tried grounding — barefoot in the grass, yes, like a full-blown hippy.I learned breathwork and somatic movement — and let me tell you, it works.I got curious about what was in my food, in my supplements, in my habits.I ditched chemicals disguised as “health” and started eating for healing — not just aesthetics.
And most importantly?
I leaned into God.I stopped looking outward for approval and started looking upward for peace. That’s when things really started to shift.
Whole Body Healing Is an Inside Job
Now, I don’t just chase goals.I chase alignment.
I’ve learned that my body is always talking to me.And when I listen — truly listen — it always leads me toward healing.
Whole body wellness is:
Supporting your nervous system, not just your muscles.
Fueling your organs, not just your image.
Nourishing your soul, not just your stomach.
Final Thoughts (And a Loving Challenge)
If you’ve been doing all the “right” things but still feel off — I see you. I was you.
And I want to challenge you with this question:
Are you focusing more on fixing your body… or actually healing it?
Because there’s a difference.
Start tuning in. Start asking questions.Start getting weird, if that’s what it takes to finally feel whole.
You deserve a life that feels good — not just one that looks good.
